The Assignment

• Providing automated entrance and interior doors between departments for the Diagnostic Center at Malmö University Hospital in Malmö, Sweden

The Challenge

• Creating an entrance with the capacity to handle the 230,000 patients that visit the Diagnostic Center each year, without sacrificing safety
• Creating a comfortable and draught-free environment for both personnel and patients
• Simplifying movement of both people and medical equipment between departments
• Creating clear demarcation of the radiology department and individual X-ray rooms

The Solution

Besam was chosen as the supplier because of its many years of experience with hospital buildings and medical settings.  Besam recommended its 2-wing revolving door UniTurn for the Diagnostic Center’s entrance. This not only provided a draught-free, escape-safe door, but also an entrance that could accommodate large numbers of people with varying degrees of mobility.

Approximately 210 Besam PowerSwing swing-door openers were installed between the departments to create easy, comfortable and safe passages. Each Besam PowerSwing operator was also equipped with a Besam Eye-Tech presence detection unit.

The Besam UniSlide was selected for all 20 doors in the radiology department, which met both the security and budget needs of the Diagnostic Center.
